Winter Guide — Snowshoes & Backcountry Ski Experience
Compensation: Hourly wage based on experience in the position, education level, and language proficiency.

Job Role:
As a Winter Guide specializing in snowshoeing and backcountry ski adventures, you will play a key role in delivering Outdoor Norway’s signature winter experiences in the majestic landscapes around Voss. This role offers a unique opportunity to work closely with the CEO, gaining direct guidance from him.
You will also collaborate with the sales and marketing team to help craft compelling guest experiences and represent the brand’s values both on and off the trail.

Whether you're leading a snowshoe hike through quiet forests or guiding a backcountry ski tour into pristine powder, you'll be part of a passionate, high-performing, and supportive team.
Key Responsibilities:
- First and foremost, uphold our mission: “We create great memories for our guests”
- Ensure the trip is run in a safe and in timely manner
- Lead snowshoe and backcountry skiing tours (day tours & multi‑day) including route planning, guiding, safety, and guest care.
- Assess snow, weather, risk, and terrain to make safe decisions.
- Provide excellent guiding: share knowledge of Voss nature, environment, cultural context.
- Ensure guests are well equipped and briefed (gear checks, safety gear, clothing).
- Deliver outstanding guest experience—responsiveness, friendly interaction, adapting experience to participant ability.
- Maintain first aid / safety and emergency procedures; handle incidents if they occur.
- Maintain and care for equipment; report damage / needs.
Qualifications:
- Proven guiding experience in backcountry skiing and/or snowshoeing, or equivalent guiding experience.
- Knowledge of winter safety, including avalanche awareness, route finding, weather forecasting is a big plus.
- Certifications relevant for winter guiding or ski instruction is a plus.
- Excellent communication skills in English; Norwegian or other languages are a plus.
- Physically fit; able to lead in challenging winter terrain and conditions.
- Passion for nature, outdoor adventure, sustainability, and delivering high standard of guest experience.
- Ability to adapt to rapidly changing weather, guest needs, and terrain conditions.
